Both the 8GB and the 16GB iPhones are listed as “Currently Unavailable” at the US & UK Online Apple Store. Now this could simply be a temporary shortage, or Apple could be preparing for the launch of the 3G iPhone. If that is the case, we may see it sooner than we think. Most people are expecting the 3G announcement at WWDC, but if they are pulling their phones this early, then who knows?
Things are probably going to be slow around here for a couple days. I’m in the process of moving, and I graduate college this weekend. I will try and post if something big happens or is announced though.
I’m downloading the MacHeist Bundle right now, so I plan on posting a review of that once I get a chance to check everything out.
I recently posted a blog called “More supposed 3G iPhone pics, this time in white.” and WordPress featured the blog on their main page under the “In Technology” section for the day. Now I know this may not seem like a big deal, but it helped pull in a lot of hits to my blog. It’s especially exciting because I just launched my blog yesterday. I’m still getting a few things settled, and probably will be for a while, but I want to say thanks to everyone for checking out my blog so far, and thanks to WordPress for featuring my iPhone post.
The Boy Genius Report posted an interesting email sent to AT&T employees about their vacation time this summer. AT&T is not letting employees take vacation between June 15th - July 12th “to ensure adequate store staffing and to give everyone an equal opportunity to benefit from an exciting product launch.” AT&T did this same thing last year when the first iPhone was launched, only the dates were June 15th - July 15th, and the phone was released on June 29th, 2007. It seems like all signs are pointing towards this email referring to the 3G iPhone launch.

Here is a pretty useless tip. You can invert the colors on your Mac’s screen by pressing ctrl+option+command+8. Yeah, it looks kind of cool, but thats about it. It doesn’t serve any real purpose that I am aware of.
The only use I have ever found for it, was as a prank. When Best Buy first started carrying Macs, which was around Christmas time, I decided to go have a little fun with them. I went around to their whole section of about 6 Macs and very quickly inverted the colors on all of them while no one was looking. When they walked back through, they were dumbfounded. One employee called another over for help, and before you know it, there were about 5 Best Buy employees standing there confused as could be. They were all trying to fix them, but I knew none of them had any idea what to do. I stood there with my friends tucked away in the DVD section laughing at them for a few minutes. Luckily for them, it reverts back to normal when you reset the computer. Go have fun with it and stump your friends.
Pictures have surfaced in a thread on the chinese website WeiPhone.com which are said to be the new 3G iPhone in white.
The images above closely resemble the details released by iLounge about the dimensions and design of the new iPhone, sharing the same shell holes and sensors. The diagram below was apparently released to 3rd party developers so they could begin making cases and accessories for the new 3G iPhone.
Here are some more images courtesy of winandmac.com that also appear to be the white version of the new iPhone. If you look closely at the image directly below, you can see some choppiness around the edges of the phone, but apparently the background was photoshopped out of the image. While that seems a little sketchy, the other image looks promising, despite its low quality and resolution.
Applicando recently posted a speed test video between a mock “3G iPhone” and the current EDGE iPhone. Both phones are downloading the same page at the same time. The mock “3G iPhone” is simulated by sharing the same Wifi internet connection of an iMac, which was connected to the internet via HSDPA using a Huawei E172 HSPDA modem. The “3G iPhone” is on the left and the current EDGE iPhone is on the right. The “3G iPhone” loads the same page as the EDGE iPhone in 16 seconds, and the EDGE iPhone takes 30 seconds. That’s a big difference, almost cutting the download time in half.
One thing that used to annoy me while typing was hitting the “caps lock” key every time I was going for the the “A” key. I am a sloppy typer, so this happened very often. I find this especially easy to do with the way the keys are laid out on my MacBook Pro, and the fact that you barely have to hit the keys to get them to respond. This is by no means a complaint about Apple and their keyboards.
Almost immediately after I got my Mac, I was looking for a fix for this. The answer is plain and simple, but yet most people don’t know it exists.
Simply go into your System Preferences> Keyboard & Mouse> Keyboard> Modifier Keys> Then set the Caps Lock Key to “No Action”
It’s really that easy. I have had my “caps lock” key disabled for about 9 months now, and I’ve never missed it once.
