Mac|Life recently posted a simple Leopard trick to switch the dock from the 3D glass to 2D.  

Here’s what you do:

-Open Terminal

-Type (all on one line): defaults write com.apple.dock no-glass -boolean YES

-Press Return

-Type: killall Dock

-Press Return

This should change the dock immediately, as long as you typed everything correctly.

If you want to revert back to the 3D dock, type the commands exactly the same, but replace “YES” with “NO”
